Kaczmar Named to Brooks Wallace Award Watch List

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Shortstop Henry Kaczmar has been named to the Brooks Wallace Award watch list, announced by the College Baseball Foundation this week.
The Brooks Wallace Award, named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace who played for the Red Raiders from 1977-80, and passed away from leukemia at the age of 27, honors the nation's top shortstop. The award is as much about defensive play as it is about production at the plate.
Kaczmar leads the Buckeyes this season at the plate, batting .329 with 48 hits. He has also scored a team-high 35 runs. He has added six doubles, two triples, three home runs and 24 RBIs and is 4-for-6 in stolen bases.
Defensively, Kaczmar has a .951 fielding percentage. He has 58 putouts and 98 assists.
Kaczmar is one of just four Big Ten shortstops on the watch list, which includes the top 100 shortstops in the nation. He is joined on the list by Camden Gasser from Purdue, Cal Hejza from Illinois and Josh Kuroda-Grauer from Rutgers. The award will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year.
