Kaczmar Signs Free Agent Deal with Seattle Mariners

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State baseball senior shortstop Henry Kaczmar has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Seattle Mariners.
Kaczmar's cousin, Mason Eckelman, was drafted by the Mariners in the eighth round of the MLB Draft on Sunday. The pair played together in high school at Walsh Jesuit before playing at Ohio State together for two seasons, and will now have the unique opportunity to continue playing together at the professional level.
After spending the 2025 season at South Carolina, Kaczmar transferred back to Ohio State for his senior season, with the decision proving fruitful for the All-Big Ten Second Team and ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region Second Team honoree. In his final season with the Scarlet and Gray, Kaczmar set the single-season program doubles record with 26. He batted .316 with 50 runs scored, 71 hits, 12 home runs and 47 RBIs. He went 7-for-8 in stolen bases.
In his three seasons in Columbus (2023-24, 2026), Kaczmar, who was named a captain of the 2026 team, batted .312 with 132 runs scored, 210 hits, 46 doubles, 26 home runs, 138 RBIs and 19 stolen bases.
On his collegiate career, Kaczmar batted .313 with 165 runs scored, 267 hits, 32 home runs and 166 RBIs.
