Dog Day Rules & Regulations:
1. All dogs must have a valid license tag and a valid rabies vaccine.
2. All dog owners must bring a copy of your dog’s vaccination records. All dogs must be up to date with Rabies, DHPP/DHLP, Parvo, Bordetella.
3. Dogs and owners must remain in designated “doggie” area throughout the event. Seating during the Event will be in the First Base Patio. Volunteers will assist you in staying within this area. Owners will not be permitted to take their dog to other parts of the area. If you would like to access human restrooms, concessions, or general seating area, please make sure to bring an adult friend that can stay with your dog. The Ohio State University will provide dog sitting volunteers to assist you in having a good time at Dog Day, should you wish to visit other areas of the area. Services are limited and restricted to 10 minutes in duration.
4. All dogs must be on leash with an adult at all times. Retractable leashes and those longer than 10’ are not permitted.
5. All participants are required to complete a Participant Release of Liability. After registering, you will be taken to a website to complete your liability waiver and to upload a copy of your dog’s vaccine record.
6. Each dog must be accompanied by at least one adult owner over the age of 18.
7. The gate by the first base patio will serve as the only entrance and exit for the dogs and their owners.
8. The Ohio State University reserves the right to determine whether a dog and its owner are an acceptable participant for the Dog Day promotion. The Ohio State University has partnered with the Franklin County Dog Shelter to help decide what dogs are suitable for this event.
9. Participants are expected to practice responsible pet ownership. If you have a dog that is an aggressive breed, or that has aggressive tendencies, please do not attend this event. Please do not bring your dog if it is unpredictable in crowds, with other dogs or with strangers. The Ohio Revised Code, Section 955.11, defines an aggressive dog.
10. The Ohio State University reserves the right to ask owner and dog to leave the area due to behavior difficulties involving the dog, dog health concerns, crowd size, failure to follow any established facility policies, failure to follow any Dog Day policies, or owners that have been warned about staying in the areas designated for dogs and human owners. Dogs that become disruptive to the game of volleyball (as deemed by Event Management, team coaches, umpires, or officials) may be asked to leave.
11. There will be a designated area, in the grass area by the entrance on to the first base patio, for dogs to relieve themselves while attending the event. Please come prepared to clean up after your dog.
12. Only a limited number of dogs will be permitted to participate in this event, so please register early.
Is my dog right for this event?
Yes, if your dog:
- Is old enough to be around other dogs and people (at least 4 months of age)
- Is up to date on all required vaccinations: Rabies – given annually, but sometimes can be a 3 year.
- DHLP – (Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Para influenza) – all given annually, sometimes referred to as the Combo Vaccination, especially when it includes Parvo.
- Parvo – given annually, many times this is included in the DHLP and indicated as DHLPP.
- Bordetella – given either every six months or annually. Sometimes referred to as: Kennel Cough OR Tracheobronchitis.
- Is in relatively good health and can walk up and down several flights of stairs
- Does well on-leash and is not overly aggressive toward other dogs
- Is friendly toward humans and not excessively fearful
- Is an Ohio State fan!
Probably not, if your dog:
- Is still too young to mix with a big crowd (under 4 months)
- Is a senior dog that would have trouble navigating stairs
- Has aggressive tendencies towards other dogs or humans while on-leash
- Is exhibiting any signs of illness close to the day of the game (ie, cough, nasal discharge, lethargy, diarrhea, etc.). These symptoms can be signs of potentially infectious illnesses and it would probably be best for your dog as well as the other dogs in attendance, if they did not attend.

How many dogs can I bring?
Only one dog is permitted per adult. If you would like to bring two dogs, there must be two registered adults.

There will be a designated area, outside the gate by the First Base Patio, for dogs to relieve themselves while attending the Event. Please come prepared to clean up after your dog.
Where can I get water for my dog?
There will be water available for your dogs near your sitting area.
What types of leashes are permitted?
- No retractable leashes or leashes that are longer than 10 feet will be allowed.
