NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Head coach Greg Beals earned his 300th victory at the helm of the Buckeyes as the Ohio State baseball team picked up an 11-6 win at Lipscomb Friday afternoon at Dugan Field. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 3-4 on the year while the Bisons drop to 6-2.
The Buckeye skipper, who now has 543 career victories including 243 in eight seasons at Ball State, becomes the fourth coach in Ohio State history with 300 wins.
The teams are set for a 3 p.m. ET first pitch Saturday with Ohio State left-hander Seth Lonsway slated to start against Lipscomb left-hander Max Habegger.

QUOTE FROM COACH
"There was a lot to like today and I'm really proud of the guys," Greg Beals, Ohio State head coach, said. "Coming off a tough weekend, having a handful of guys out with illness, it was far from ideal leading into the game but we put guys on the field who were ready. They were ready to play and they took advantage of their opportunity. We had contributions up and down the lineup and received solid, workman-like starting pitching from Garrett Burhenn."
LIPSCOMB BREAKS THROUGH FIRST
After the Buckeyes stranded four through the first three innings, Lipscomb took the lead with three in the bottom of the third. With two down and a runner on first against Burhenn, the Bisons tallied four-straight singles to plate three against the Buckeye right-hander.
BUCKEYES ANSWER WITH TWO IN THE FOURTH, THREE IN THE FIFTH
Conner Pohl and Colton Bauer singled to lead off the fourth before Lipscomb starter Scott Elgin induced a foul out by Scottie Seymour. However, Mitchell Okuley lined a single back up the middle to plate Pohl and, after Nate Karaffa popped out to deep center, Marcus Ernst followed with an infield single to score Bauer to make it a 3-2 contest.
After a scoreless bottom of the fourth from Burhenn, the Buckeyes came back out to plate three more against Lipscomb reliever Logan Van Treeck in the fifth. With runners on first and second and two down after a Zach Dezenzo walk and a Brent Todys single, Scottie Seymour fought off a single to right field to score Dezenzo. Okuley then drew a walk to load the bases for Karaffa, who laced an 0-2 pitch to left to score Todys and Seymour for the 5-3 lead.
FIVE-RUN SIXTH BLOWS IT OPEN
Ohio State then loaded the bases with nobody down in the sixth before Van Treeck was lifted for right-hander Bryce Einstein. Bauer followed with a sacrifice fly to center to score Dezenzo and Pohl then got caught in a rundown between first and second to allow Todys to score. After Seymour reached on a throwing error and Okuley walked, Karaffa lined a three-run shot to left to make it a 10-3 game.

BURHENN BATTLES, STRIKES OUT CAREER HIGH NINE
The Buckeye sophomore right-hander bounced back from a rocky third inning to pick up his first win of the season. Burhenn went 6.1 innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and a pair of walks while striking out a career-high nine before giving way to sophomore left-hander Mitch Milheim in the seventh. Milheim tossed 1.2 scoreless frames for his third scoreless appearance to start the season before freshman Ethan Hammerberg and senior Joe Gahm split the ninth for the series-opening win.
