Buckeyes Homer Twice in Loss to No. 1 UCLA

Game Recap
- The Bruins took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, scoring off a two-RBI double and an RBI single.
- In the bottom of the first with one out, Henry Kaczmar reached base on a UCLA error. With two outs, Mason Eckelman stepped up to the dish and he went yard to drive in two runs and cut the Bruin lead to one, 3-2.
- A three-run home run for the Bruins in the top of the second extended their lead, 6-2. An RBI double and another three-run home run from UCLA in the top of the third inning left the Buckeyes trailing by eight, 10-2.
- With one out on the board in the bottom of the third, Kaczmar singled to center field, followed by a walk for Lee Ellis. Eckelman came up big once again with a double to drive in both runners. With two outs, Alex Bemis singled to left field, stole second and then advanced to third on a Bruin error. Harvey was next up and he smashed one over the wall in right field to send two runs across and cut the UCLA lead to four, 10-6.
- UCLA got ahead by five, 11-6, in the top of the fourth after scoring on a balk.
- In the top of the sixth, UCLA added two runs on an RBI double and an RBI single to get ahead, 13-6.
- In the bottom of the sixth, Bemis led off with an infield single and advanced to second on a passed ball. He advanced to third on a throwing error by the Bruins' pitcher, but he was stranded.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Miles Vandenheuvel and Noah Furcht were hit by pitches to put two runners on for the Buckeyes, but they were left on base.
- The Bruins had a big eighth inning, scoring six runs to extend their lead over Ohio State, 19-6.
- The Buckeyes were retired in order in the bottom of the eighth and the Bruins earned the 19-6, eight-inning run-rule victory.
- Bemis, Eckelman and Harvey led the Buckeyes with two hits each. It is a career-high for both Bemis and Harvey.
- Harvey's home run was his second of the series. Eckelman now had three home runs on the season.
- Eckelman led the Buckeyes in RBIs with four.
- Chris Domke (1-3) took the loss on the mound. He struck out three and gave up nine runs on eight hits in 2.1 innings pitched.
- Lincoln McVicker struck out a career-high three in a 1.2-inning relief appearance. He allowed two runs on two hits.
- Jake Michalk struck out a season-high five in 3.0 innings out of the bullpen. He gave up two runs on three hits.
- Ohio State closes out its series against the Bruins on Sunday, March 8. The game has been pushed back to a 1 p.m. start.
