Late Long Ball Lifts Buckeyes Over Falcons, 6-4

Game Recap
- Joseph Mershon was the first base runner of the game for the Buckeyes after drawing a one-out walk in the bottom of the second inning. He swiped the bag at second but was stranded on base.
- With one out on the board in the bottom of the third inning, Josh Stevenson was walked and he advanced to second on a wild pitch. Lipsey was up next, and he lined a double into right field, driving Stevenson in to give Ohio State a 1-0 lead. With two outs, Henry Kaczmar doubled to center field, and Matthew Graveline, who was up next, was walked. Another double for the Buckeyes, this time off the bat of Tyler Pettorini, sent two runs home to extend the Ohio State lead, 3-0.
- Mitchell Okuley was walked to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning but was out on the next play as Nick Giamarusti reached base on a fielder's choice. With two outs, Stevenson singled to right field and Giamarusti advanced to third base. Lipsey then walked to load the bases, but all three runners were left on base.
- A grand slam from the Falcons in the top of the sixth inning gave them a one-run lead over the Buckeyes, 4-3.
- Okuley led off with a double down the left field line in the bottom of the eighth frame and advanced to third base on a wild pitch. Stevenson reached base on a fielder's choice, sending Okuley home to tie the score, 4-4. Lipsey stepped up next to the plate and he came up big, rocketing the baseball over the wall in left center field to plate two runs and put Ohio State back in the lead, 6-4.
- Justin Eckhardt came in to toss the top of the ninth and quickly had two runners on with one out on the board. But those runners were stranded as the next Falcon hit a fly ball to Okuley in right field and Eckhardt caught the final batter of the inning swinging to earn the save.
- Lipsey, Kaczmar, Pettorini and Stevenson led the Buckeyes with two hits each.
- Lipsey had a team-high three RBIs and Pettorini drove in two runs.
- Chase Herrell struck out two and gave up just one hit in a 4.0-inning no-decision.
- Zach Brown (3-0) earned the victory. He allowed one hit in 1.0 inning pitched.
- Eckhardt earned his fifth save of the season, striking out one and allowing one hit in 1.0 inning tossed.
- The Buckeyes host Morehead State on Wednesday, April 10 at 6:00 p.m. and host Iowa for a three-game Big Ten series Friday-Sunday.
