
Okuley Homers Twice in Ohio State's Win Over Morehead State

Game Recap
- The Eagles took an early 2-0 lead after a two-run home run in the top of the first inning.
- The Buckeyes answered in the home half of the first. Trey Lipsey walked to lead things off and advanced to third on a single from Henry Kaczmar. Lipsey scored on an error from the Eagles to cut their lead in half, 2-1. With one out, Matthew Graveline walked, followed by a single from Tyler Pettorini which sent Graveline to third to put runners on the corners. Mitchell Okuley was next up at the plate and he came up big, belting the ball over the wall in left center to drive in three runs and give the Buckeyes the lead, 4-2.
- Lipsey led off with a double to left center in the bottom of second and stole third. A sacrifice fly from Graveline scored Lipsey and gave the Buckeyes a three-run lead, 5-2.
- An RBI groundout from the Eagles in the top of the third inning cut the Ohio State lead back to two, 5-3.
- In the bottom of the third inning, Okuley drew a walk, stole second, and advanced to third on a wild pitch. He scored on a sacrifice bunt from Zach Fjelstad to put Ohio State back up by three, 6-3. An RBI single from Lipsey plated Josh Stevenson, who walked to reach base, and gave the Buckeyes a 7-3 lead over the Eagles.
- A score on an Ohio State error and a two-RBI single in the top of the fifth put the Eagles within one run of the Buckeyes, 7-6.
- Kaczmar singled to right field to lead off the bottom of the sixth for the Buckeyes. Graveline drew a walk to put two runners on. Pettorini was up next, and he blasted a home run down the left field line to plate three runs and give Ohio State the 10-6 advantage over the Eagles.
- In the bottom of the eighth inning, Kaczmar walked, followed by a double from Graveline to put both runners in scoring position. A sacrifice fly from Pettorini scored Kaczmar and put Ohio State ahead by five, 11-6. Okuley came in clutch once again, homering over the wall in right field to plate two runs and extend the Buckeye lead, 13-6.
- A two-out solo home run from Morehead State in the top of the ninth inning cut the Buckeye lead to six, 13-7, but Ohio State secured the last out of the inning to win the game.
- Pettorini led the Buckeyes with three hits. Lipsey, Kaczmar and Okuley each added two hits.
- Of the Buckeyes' 12 hits on the night, six were for extra bases.
- Okuley batted in five runs, tying his career-high. Pettorini batted in four runs.
- Colin Purcell struck out three and gave up two runs on one hit in a 2.0-inning no-decision.
- Hunter Shaw (1-2) earned the victory. He struck out two and allowed one run on two hits in 2.0 innings pitched. Of his 28 pitches thrown, 20 were strikes.
- Jacob Morin fanned two and did not allow any hits in 1.1 innings out of the bullpen.
- The Buckeyes host Iowa for a three-game conference series Friday, April 12 through Sunday, April 14. Fans who purchase a ticket to the spring football game can add on a ticket to the baseball game for one dollar.
