COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will conclude the regular season this weekend by hosting the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate at the OSU Golf Club. The 54-hole event will run April 19-21 and will include 18 teams from across the country.
Admission and parking are free all weekend.
- This is the 52nd Robert Kepler Intercollegiate. Ohio State has won the team title 25 times, including last year. A Buckeye has claimed individual medalist honors 23 times, with Maxwell Moldovan winning most recently in 2022.
- Last year, five Buckeyes finished in the Top 10, led by a runner-up finish by Jackson Chandler. For Chandler, it was the best finish of his career as he shot rounds of 70-71-72 to finish at even par. The Buckeyes won the event as a team by 19 shots over Kent State.
- Ohio State’s scoring lineup this week will include Maxwell Moldovan, Neal Shipley, Adam Wallin, Jackson Chandler and Tyler Sabo. The rest of the roster, with the exception of Joe Wilson IV who is recovering from hip surgery, will compete as an individual.
- This will be the final home event for the program’s five seniors in Moldovan, Shipley, Wallin, Chandler and Patrick Schmucking.
- This will also be the first of back-to-back events in Columbus as next week’s Big Ten Championship will be at nearby Scioto Country Club.
- Ohio State is currently ranked No. 28 in the latest Scoreboard rankings powered by Clippd.
- Moldovan is coming into this week averaging a career-best 70.58 and will likely set the program’s career scoring average when all is said and done. He also holds the records for most career rounds in the 60 as well as most rounds at par or better.
- Shipley is looking to ride the wave from Augusta last week where he earned low amateur honors. His Sunday pairing with Tiger Woods was pretty special as well. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native is leading the team in scoring at 70.33 and he has a team-high five Top 20 finishes.
- Wallin is this on the team in scoring at 71.13 and continues to pace the team with 18 rounds at par of better. He also has made a team-high seven eagles on the season.
- Chandler has played well in tournament action at Scarlet. In his last three collegiate events on the course, he finished runner-up at the 2023 Kepler Intercollegiate, fourth at the NCAA Columbus Regional and seventh at the 2021 Kepler Intercollegiate.
- Sabo will be playing in his sixth event this season and his second as a member of the scoring team. All three of his rounds at the season-opening Maui Jim Intercollegiate counted towards the team score. He is averaging 74.31 strokes per round and has six rounds at par or better.
- We shouldn’t jinx anything with Ohio weather in April but the forecast looks favorable for this weekend. After rain overnight on Thursday into Friday, the rest of the weekend looks dry with temps around 60.
