Chandler and Buckeyes Lead Through Two Rounds at the Kepler

Jackson Chandler is looking for his first collegiate victory
COLUMBUS, Ohio – On another tough day for scoring, Ohio State posted the low round of the day and vaulted into a tie for the lead through 36 holes of the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate at the OSU Golf Club.
Senior Jackson Chandler followed his opening round 68 with a solid round of even-par 71 and has the individual lead all to himself at 3-under par. The Dublin, Ohio native is looking for his first collegiate victory. He finished runner-up at last year’s Kepler Intercollegiate and also had one third place finish as a freshman at the Challenge at Concession. Chandler has played three previous collegiate events on the Scarlet course and has finished in the Top 10 in every event.
Maxwell Moldovan had an uncharacteristic round on Friday but bounced back to match Chandler with a round of even-par 71 on Saturday. Those rounds came in cool, blustery conditions and turned out to be tied for the lowest rounds of the day. Fellow senior Adam Wallin made two birdies and an eagle in his round of 72. He is tied for 16th at 5-over par.
Tyler Sabo and Neal Shipley round out the Buckeye scoring five as they are both tied at 10-over par. Sabo posted a second consecutive round of 76 while Shipley came in with a 78 on Saturday.
Six Buckeyes are playing as individuals this week and redshirt-junior Drew Mulcahy is leading that group at 5-over par following rounds of 73-74. That is the best 36-hole start of his career. Senior Patrick Schmuecking is playing in his final event at Scarlet and is off to a solid start with rounds of 72-76 (+6).
Redshirt-sophomore Tyler Groomes is also 6-over through two rounds as he followed his 75 on Friday with a 2-over 73 on Saturday. Topher Reed is a shot further back at 7-over par and Jack Vojtko and Jacob Tarkany are at 13-over through two rounds.
The Buckeyes will be playing in the final group on Sunday with Kent State and South Dakota State. They will begin the final round at 12:25 p.m. off the first tee.
