- Two RBI doubles and an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning put the Sun Devils in the lead, 3-0.
- With two outs on the board in the top of the second, Ryan Miller recorded his first hit as a Buckeye, singling to second base. Zach Fjelstad then singled to right field, advancing Miller to third. Lipsey was next up, reaching base on an error; Miller scored on the error to cut the ASU lead to two, 3-1. Kaczmar stepped up to the plate next, putting a single in right field to send two runs home and tie the score, 3-3.
