Lonsway Called Up by the San Francisco Giants

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Ohio State baseball pitcher Seth Lonsway has been called up by the San Francisco Giants, announced by the team on Saturday.
Lonsway is the fifth Buckeye since 2024 to be called up to the Major League (Dillon Dingler, Zach Dezenzo, Jacob Bosiokovic, Jack Neely). Lonsway will be one of four former Ohio State players to be active in the MLB, joining Dingler (Detroit Tigers), Dominic Canzone (Seattle Mariners) and Ryan Feltner (Colorado Rockies).
Southpaw Lonsway was selected by the Giants in the sixth round of the 2021 MLB Draft. Lonsway, who played in Columbus from 2018 to 2021, recorded 266 strikeouts over 178.1 innings in 33 appearances. He led the nation with 21.00 strikeouts per nine innings in the abbreviated 2020 season and that followed a Freshman All-America season in 2019 where he went 8-4 and struck out a Big Ten leading 126 batters.
In his six seasons in Minor League Baseball, Lonsway has fanned 460 in nearly 500 innings pitched. He has a career ERA of 4.42.
