Canzone Called Up by Diamondbacks

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Ohio State outfielder Dominic Canzone is headed to The Show after being called up by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.
Canzone had a phenomenal season for the Triple-A Reno Aces. He batted an impressive .354 with 60 runs, 91 hits, 16 homeruns and 71 RBIs through 71 games. He was named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Month for June after hitting .430 with nine doubles, one triple, five homeruns and 25 RBIs.
Canzone was selected by Arizona in the eighth round (pick 242) of the 2019 MLB Draft after his junior season at Ohio State. He made his debut in Reno in 2022 and has been with the Aces ever since.
In just three seasons with the Buckeyes, Canzone made his mark. Canzone's best season came in 2019; he started all 63 games in the outfield and batted .345 with 18 doubles, 16 homers and 43 RBIs. He led the Big Ten in hits (88), runs scored (66), slugging percentage (.620) and total bases (158). Canzone earned Third Team All-American honors from both ABCA/Rawlings and Perfect Game/Rawlings. He was a First Team Midwest ABCA/Rawlings honoree, as well as being named to the All-Big Ten First Team and the Big Ten All-Tournament Team.
Canzone ranks in the top-10 in the Ohio State record book in single season hits (88), homeruns (16) and runs scored (66) and he is in the top-20 in career batting average (.346).
