COLUMBUS, Ohio – Coming off its hottest week of the 2016 season, the Ohio State baseball team is set to conclude the home schedule at 6:35 p.m. ET Tuesday against Eastern Michigan at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The Buckeyes (35-16-1, 13-8 B1G) are returning to the diamond after claiming four straight Top 20 wins last week in Columbus, including a weekend sweep of archrival and No. 19 Michigan. The Eagles travel to Columbus with a 20-30 overall record and 10-11 mark in MAC action.

BIG TEN BASEBALL HEATING UP
With one weekend to go in the regular season, there are five teams within three games of the Big Ten’s top spot. Ohio State travels to play first-place Minnesota (15-5) Thursday-Saturday in Minneapolis, Minn. After a 4-5 start, Ohio State has gone 9-3 in its last four weekends to push up to third place with Nebraska with a 13-8 record. The Huskers host second-place Indiana (15-6) this weekend in Lincoln, Neb. The Top 8 teams advance to the 2016 Big Ten Tournament held May 25-29 at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb.

WORTHY NOTES
- The Scarlet and Gray lead the Big Ten with 35 overall wins this season.
- Ohio State is 11-3 all-time vs. Eastern Michigan. The Buckeyes have won seven of the last eight meetings against the Eagles. Last time out, Ohio State defeated Eastern Michigan, 8-1, April 8, 2014, in Columbus.
- Ohio State sits in third place in the Big Ten standings with Nebraska with 13-8 league records.
- The Buckeyes also lead the Big Ten with 22 home victories in 2016, which is tied for fifth in school history.
- The Buckeyes have won four straight games against Top 20 opponents for the first time in recent history.
- The Scarlet and Gray swept No. 19 Michigan in a three-game series last weekend. Ohio State won game one, 3-2, before winning the middle game, 7-3. The Buckeyes concluded the sweep with an 8-2 victory on Senior Day.
- Nick Sergakis batted .364 in the series (4-for-11) with two runs scored, one double, three RBI, two walks and a stolen bases, while Jalen Washington homered twice vs. the Wolverines to up his total to three dingers on the year.
- On the mound, the OSU pitching staff allowed just seven runs in the three-game series vs. the Wolverines with 29 strikeouts to five walks. Tanner Tully allowed a run on five hits in eight innings in the opener, John Havird followed by allowing just two runs on eight hits in seven innings, while Adam Niemeyer finished the weekend allowing just a run on four hits in 5.1 innings of work.
- Ohio State leads the league with 50 home runs and 113 doubles. It’s the most home runs by a Buckeye team in six years.
- The OSU pitching staff is second in the Big Ten in strikeouts (410) and third in league in ERA (3.03).
- The Buckeyes are in the Top 5 in several other Big Ten batting categories, including first in walks (231), second in stolen bases (78) and triples (13), third in slugging (.429), runs scored (305), and RBI (278) and fifth in hits (462).
- The senior class has won 135 career games, including 75 victories at Bill Davis Stadium.
- Nick Sergakis is the only player in the Big Ten in the Top 10 in 10 different B1G batting categories. He is first in doubles (18), third in total bases (111), slugging percentage (.600), on-base percentage (.481), hit by pitches (14) and RBI (44), sixth in batting average (.362) and home runs (8) and eighth in walks (31) and hits (67).
- Ronnie Dawson leads the conference with 115 total bases. He is the only Buckeye in school history with at least 40 doubles, 20 home runs and 40 stolen bases in his career.
- Jacob Bosiokovic is tied for second in the Big Ten with 11 home runs.
- Troy Montgomery is fifth all-time in OSU career steals with 56 swipes. He is second in B1G with 44 walks.
- The team is led by sixth-year head coach Greg Beals, who has taken the Buckeyes to five-consecutive B1G tournament appearances.
- Ohio State returns 20 letterwinners, including six starting position players and three starting pitchers.
- The Buckeyes are led by one of their largest senior classes in recent history – 9 members
