KINKER STRONG
Gray right-handed starting pitcher Seth Kinker improved to 2-0 in the fall series. The OSU junior tossed 4.0 scoreless innings on one hit, one walk and three strikeouts.
GRAY SCORES FIRST
Bo Coolen, the hero in game two for Gray, got his team on the board in the bottom of the first when he ripped an opposite field double to the gap in left center to plate Jalen Washington, who led off the inning with a single through the right side. The Gray squad made it 2-0 when Coolen advanced on a passed ball and scored on a RBI grounder by Noah McGowan.
GRAY ADDS THREE IN THE THIRD
Kinker stranded a Scarlet runner on second with a pair of punch outs in the bottom of the second to put his team back on the offensive attack. Washington reached third base quickly to start the third after an infield single, throwing error and stolen base. A sacrifice fly by Tyler Cowles pushed him home to make it 3-0. With the bases loaded, Gray made it a five-run lead on some heads-up base running. Shea Murray sent a deep fly ball to center to push Coolen around the dish. McGowan scored all the way from second base after the Scarlet relay didn’t connect to the dish.
SCARLET SCORES THREE IN THE FIFTH
The Gray relievers had some issue with control in the top of the fifth and the Scarlet bats took advantage. A bases-loaded walk to Tre’ Gantt scored the first run. Dominic Canzone then knocked a two-out, two-run double to make it a 5-3 contest. A fly out ended the threat leaving two Scarlet runners on base.
