COLUMBUS, Ohio – With collegiate summer league seasons concluding soon, multiple Buckeyes are putting together solid performances in wood bat leagues across the country. Ronnie Dawson, a member of the Orleans Firebirds, was named an all-star in the Cape Cod League, while Adam Niemeyer and Jalen Washington were all-stars in the Prospect League. Jake Brobst was named an all-star in the Alaska Baseball League.
Some Ohio State summer league highlights:
Ronnie Dawson (Orleans Firebirds) – Dawson is hitting .255 with 19 runs scored, two doubles, four home runs, 13 RBI, 14 walks and 10 stolen bases. His four home runs are tied for fifth in the league, while his 19 runs scored are tied for sixth best. Dawson started at first base for the East Division all-stars in a 1-0 victory July 25.
Tanner Tully (Orleans Firebirds) – Tully is 1-0 with a 2.20 ERA in five appearances with three starts in the Cape Cod League. He has struck out 11 batters in 16.1 innings pitched and allowed just four earned runs.
Craig Nennig (Mankato MoonDogs) – Batting .253 with 48 hits, five doubles, two triples, four home runs, 29 RBI and 17 walks with seven stolen bases in 50 games in the Northwoods League. Nennig was named Northwoods League Player of the Night July 27 after going 3-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBI as Mankato’s third baseman.
Nick Sergakis (Kenosha Kingfish) – Batted .260 with 28 runs scored, 39 hits, six doubles, six home runs, 23 RBI and 16 walks in 44 games in the Northwoods League.
Joe Stoll (Lakeshore Chinooks) – 1-3 with a 2.31 ERA in 16 appearances in the Northwoods League. Stoll has struck out 25 batters to seven walks in 35.0 innings pitched out of the bullpen.
Adam Niemeyer (Chillicothe Paints) – 3-3 with a 3.05 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 41.1 innings pitched. Niemeyer has made nine starts to lead the team this summer in the Prospect League.
Jalen Washington (Jamestown Jammers) – Batting .248 with 24 runs scored, 36 hits, two doubles, two triples, five RBI and 12 walks in Prospect League. His 36 hits are fourth-best on the team, while his 13 stolen bases are second on the Jammers.
Seth Kinker (Lima Locos) – 3-2 with a 3.66 ERA in 13 appearances in the Great Lakes League. Kinker has fanned 21 batters to four walks in 19.2 innings pitched and has collected three saves.
Jake Brobst (Chugiak Chinooks) – Batting .301 with 17 runs scored, 28 hits, one double, four RBI and 17 walks in 28 games in the Alaska Baseball League. Brobst leads the team in batting average and walks and second in runs scored and tied for third in hits.
