COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team hosted its second annual alumni day Saturday afternoon at Bill Davis Stadium.
After the current Buckeyes practiced from 10-2 p.m., 60-plus former Buckeyes from the coaching eras of Marty Karow, Dick Finn, Bob Todd and Greg Beals were on hand to throw on the spikes for an alumni game following a batting practice that showcased plenty of warning track power. The alumni then stuck around to watch the football Buckeyes take on Miami from the comforts of the players’ lounge and conference room at Bill Davis Stadium.
“This is such an unbelievable feeling to be back with some of the guys I played with and it feels like yesterday we were playing here and winning championships,” Jonathan Sweet (1992-94) said.
Gary Jones (1991-94) had a similar sentiment: “It’s a great feeling to be back with the guys you played with and it makes the Buckeye baseball family even closer.”
Also, the former Buckeyes had the opportunity to play on the new turf on Nick Swisher Field for the first time.
“I think the facilities here are second to none and this is another example of that,” Sweet added. “When the athletic department wants to do something, it does it first class.”
