Ohio State Welcomes Nationally-Ranked Oklahoma State to Bill Davis Stadium for Two Midweek Matchups – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Tuesday and Wednesday evening the Buckeyes will be hosting another OSU – Oklahoma State University – in a two-game series with start times each night set for 6:35 p.m.
This is Oklahoma State’s first appearance in Bill Davis Stadium. The Cowboys enter the series nationally-ranked among the Top 20 teams in the nation with a 31-15 record and a 12-8 mark in the Big 12 Conference. The Buckeyes are 21-21 overall and are 10-8 in the Big Ten Conference.

STARTER’S STUFF
Ohio State is expected to start RHP Dean Wolosiansky (2-6; 5.54 ERA) and RHP John Kuchno (1-4; 7.62) in the two games. Oklahoma State is expected to go with RHP Andrew Heck (2-1; 4.40) and either RHP Randy McMurray (2-2; 2.08) or RHP Jason Hursh (1-0; 2.76).
OSU vs. OSU SERIES HISTORY
Ohio State and Oklahoma State have met just three times on the baseball diamond with Ohio State winning all three games. The teams last met in 1994 in Gainesville, Fla., a 5-4 Ohio State win.
BIG WINS IN SCHOOL HISTORY
The first two times Ohio State and Oklahoma State played came in the 1966 College World Series in Omaha, Neb. The Buckeyes claimed the first game in the CWS, 4-2, scoring three runs in the top of the ninth inning. And then the two met in the CWS championship game on June 18. Ohio State won its first and only College World Series championship with an 8-2 win.
OHIO STATE OF LATE
The Buckeyes are coming off a series loss at Illinois last weekend. Illinois came back from two four-run deficits to win the opener, 13-9. The Buckeyes hit four home runs in the 12-7 Game 2 win. Illinois out-hit Ohio State, 16-6, to win Game 3, 11-5. A few notes on the weekend:
- Matt Streng had 11 RBI, including seven in the Game 2 win, and slugged at a 1.071 rate while hitting .429. He homered twice in the Buckeyes’ win.
- Brett McKinney faced the minimum number of batters through four innings in Game 2 and carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning. He pitched 7.0 innings with 7 strikeouts and two walks to get the victory and improve to 2-3 on the season.
A LITTLE ABOUT OKLAHOMA STATE
The Cowboys have 159 extra base hits, including 103 doubles, 22 triples and 34 home runs. They are hitting .302 as a team with a 3.33 team ERA. Oklahoma State hosted No. 8 TCU this weekend and, after winning the opener, 6-2, dropped the final two games in the series by scores of 10-3 and 8-7 in 10 innings.
