Ohio State Hosts Toledo on Columbus City Schools Day Tuesday in Final 2011 Game at Bill Davis – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will take on the Toledo Rockets at noon Tuesday in the final home game of the 2011 campaign. It will be Columbus City Schools Day at Bill Davis Stadium.
The Buckeyes enter the week in a tie for fourth place in the Big Ten with a 23-24 overall record, 11-10 in conference play. Toledo is 25-25 overall, 14-10 in the Mid-American Conference.
SEVEN SENIORS
Seven Ohio State seniors, all members of the program’s 2009 Big Ten championship team, are playing in their last home game today. The seven are co-captains Brian DeLucia and Dean Wolosiansky, Tyler Engle, Theron Minium, Drew Rucinski, Jared Strayer and Matt Streng.

Ohio State and Toledo have played 31 times over the years with Ohio State holding a 25-6 edge in victories.
17 CONSECUTIVE WINS
Ohio State has not lost to Toledo in 26 years. Since a 3-2 Toledo win on April 12, 1983, Ohio State has won 17 consecutive games over the Rockets. The Buckeyes are 7-0 all-time vs. Toledo in Bill Davis Stadium.
LAST YEAR
Ohio State scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to pick up a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Toledo in the home opener at Bill Davis Stadium. Drew Rucinski pitched a flawless ninth inning for his fourth save of the season.
OHIO STATE TODAY
The Buckeyes are coming off a weekend in which they dropped two of three to the Iowa Hawkeyes at Bill Davis Stadium. The weekend put Ohio State in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Big Ten with an 11-10 record in conference play. Some Ohio State notes:
- Josh Dezse leads the Buckeyes with a .341 batting average and 39 RBI. He also has a team-high four saves.
- Drew Rucinski is 5-2 with a team-best 2.82 earned-run average and 45 strikeouts.
- Seniors Tyler Engle and Matt Streng have really picked it up in Big Ten play, batting .351 and .330, respectively. Both have six doubles while starting all 21 conference games.
SCOUTING THE ROCKETS
Led by eighth-year head coach Cory Mee, Toledo is 25-25 on the season and 14-10 in Mid-American Conference play. Ben Hammer leads the Rockets with a .351 average. The junior outfielder has nine doubles, 26 runs scored and 25 RBI. Right-hander Mike Hamann is 2-3 with a 1.96 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 59.2 innings pitched on the mound.

Ohio State travels to Minneapolis to take on Minnesota in a three-game set beginning Thursday at Target Field. The teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 4:05 p.m. ET Thursday before a 7:05 p.m. finale Friday.
