The 2010 Buckeye “Boys of Summer” – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Members of the Ohio State baseball team are Terriers and Wranglers and Copperheads and Rafters and Cows this summer. That’s because at least 13 players who will be upper classmen on new coach Greg Beals’ first Buckeye team next year are now well into their summer league assignments. One can find an Ohio State Buckeye in seven different leagues, from the northern-most Northwoods League to the five-team Florida Collegiate League.
The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League has the most Buckeyes playing with five players competing on four teams. The Delaware Cows, whose home games are played at Ohio Wesleyan University, include two Buckeyes: pitcher Theron Minium and first baseman Matt Streng.
Two additional teams from two different summer leagues feature multiple Buckeyes. The Luray Wranglers of the Valley Baseball League feature outfielder Brian DeLucia and pitcher Drew Rucinski. And the Asheboro Copperheads of the Coastal Plains League include on its roster pitchers Brett McKinney and Jared Strayer.
Senior engineering major Dean Wolosiansky is playing for West Virginia of the Prospect League and he is also working on an internship this summer with an engineering firm. He made his first summer league start the evening of June 16 and pitched 7.0 shutout innings in a 2-1 win over the Terre Haute Rex. Not a bad start considering Wolosiansky had to drive about four hours to the game that day after sitting in on an Ohio State baseball coaching candidate interview.

- So. OF Hunter Mayfield – Orlando Mavericks (Florida Collegiate League)
- So. RHP Brett McKinney – Asheboro Copperheads (Coastal Plains League)
- Sr. LHP Theron Minium – Delaware Cows (Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League)
- Sr. RHP Drew Rucinski – Luray Wranglers (Valley Baseball League)
- Sr. RHP Jared Strayer – Asheboro Copperheads (Coastal Plains League)
