MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Ohio State found out it will play Michigan in its opening game of the Big Ten Tournament at Minnesota’s Siebert Field Thursday at 4:35 p.m. Michigan took three of four games from the Buckeyes earlier this year.
After a first-round bye, the second-seeded Buckeyes will play the third-seeded Wolverines, which beat sixth-seeded Indiana 7-2 in the opening game of the tournament. In other Wednesday action, fourth-seeded Penn State beat fifth-seeded Northwestern 6-0.
Ohio State plays Michigan since it was the highest seeded winner, while top-seeded Minnesota, the host school, plays Penn State since it was the lowest seeded winner Wednesday. That game will be at 8:05 p.m. Thursday. The day gets underway at 1:05 p.m. with a loser’s bracket game between Northwestern and Indiana.
If Ohio State gets past Michigan, it would play at 7:05 p.m. Friday against the winner of the Minnesota vs. Penn State game. Should the Buckeyes lose, they would play at 1:05 p.m. Friday.
