JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Constant rain since early Saturday morning has forced the Ohio State baseball team to cancel two games on its trip to Jacksonville for the Kennel Club Classic. The No. 25 Buckeyes opened with a 3-0 win over North Florida Saturday night and was to play Jacksonville on Saturday and The Citadel on Sunday.
Coaches from Ohio State and Jacksonville originally pushed the start time of Saturday’s game from its originally scheduled time of 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. in hopes that the heavy rains would clear out of the Jacksonville area. But since the rain continued, that game was then postponed until Sunday at Noon and the Sunday game against The Citadel was cancelled. Upon arriving to Alexander Breast Stadium at the University of Jacksonville on Sunday morning, the two teams waited for nearly two hours before cancelling the game.
Ohio State, now 4-0-1 on the year, will next travel to Albuquerque, N.M. for three games. The Buckeyes will meet Toledo at 3 p.m. on Friday and then will play New Mexico at 1:05 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
