Swisher Named to 2001 USA Baseball Team – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – %^$USA Baseball announced today that Ohio State’s Nick Swisher (So., Parkersburg, W.Va.) has made the 2001 USA Baseball National Team, following a four-day tryout in Tucson, Ariz. Swisher is one of 22 collegiate players selected.%^$
%^$”This entire experience has been incredible,” Swisher said. “To have the opportunity to play with a team this talented and represent the United States and Ohio State in Japan is an unbelievable honor.”%^$
%^$Team USA will play 29 more games on the Red, White and Blue Summer Tour, following its first game last night, which it won 5-1 over the Chicago Cubs rookie level affiliate at HoHoKam Park in Mesa, Ariz. Team USA will travel overseas on Wednesday to the 30th-annual USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Series, which this year will be played in Japan.%^$
%^$Swisher and Team USA will play three games in the state of Ohio. On July 12-13, Team USA will play Northern Ohio in Strongsville, Ohio. On July 14, Team USA will travel to Athens, Ohio for a game against the Great Lakes All-Stars.%^$
%^$Florida’s Pat McMahon is serving as the head coach for Team USA. He is assisted by North Florida’s Dusty Rhodes, Northwestern’s Paul Stevens and Ohio State’s Bob Todd.%^$
