No. 25 Baseball Drops Game One of Doubleheader – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 25 Ohio State baseball team (28-10 overall, 9-5 in the Big Ten) fell 9-4 in game one of a doubleheader to Penn State (21-21 overall, 10-6 in the Big Ten) at Bill Davis Stadium.%^$
%^$Penn State jumped on the Buckeyes in the top of the first inning. Chris Wright belted a two-run home run off OSU starting pitcher Kevin Goodrum (Sr., Mentor, Ohio).%^$
%^$In the bottom half of the inning, OSU cut the PSU lead to 2-1. Mike Harris (Sr., Hillsborough, N.C.) led off with a single and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Doug Deeds (Fr., Bexley, Ohio).%^$
%^$In the bottom of the second inning, the Buckeyes tied the game at two courtesy of another sacrifice fly. Christian Snavely (Fr., Defiance, Ohio) led off with a walk and was driven in by a Harris sacrifice.%^$
%^$PSU retook the lead in the top of the third inning. Rod Perry scored on a double steal to give the Nittany Lions a 3-2 lead.%^$
%^$The Nittany Lions added a run in the top of the fourth inning. Brian Bishop scored on a RBI single by Zack Smithlin to give PSU a 4-2 edge.%^$
%^$Ohio State tied the game in the fourth inning. Brett Garrard (Fr., Brownsburg, Ind.) and Joe Wilkins (Jr., Grove City, Ohio) connected on back-to-back singles to lead off. Garrard came home on a sacrifice fly by Harris. Mike Check (Sr., Bay Village, Ohio) drove Wilkins home with a single to left-center field.%^$
%^$Penn State took the lead back in the sixth inning when Willie Melendez grounded into a 5-4-3 double play, scoring Doug Rodio. The Nittany Lions tacked on four runs in the seventh inning to put the game away.%^$
%^$Kyle Blachuta (Fr., Bloomdale, Ohio) took the loss in relief. He falls to 2-1 on the season. Kyle Smith (1-1) earned the win in relief for the Nittany Lions.%^$
