COLUMBUS, Ohio – Off to its best start since 1994 and currently on a 13-game winning streak, the Ohio State baseball team is ranked No. 24 in the nation in the latest Collegiate Baseball Top 25 poll.
“This team is playing great baseball,” head coach Bob Todd said. “We’ve put together a good stretch of wins and have beaten some quality opponents. We were really tested in Florida and this team responded to every challenge.”
The 16-4 start is Ohio State’s best since 1994 when the program opened the season 17-3. That year, the Buckeyes finished with the best record in the nation at 49-9. The current 13-game winning streak is OSU’s best since 1999. That year, the team went on a school record 21-game binge and finished one win away from a berth in the College World Series.
On Wednesday, the team plays host to Birmingham Southern at Bill Davis Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
