Ehrnsberger and Turner Named to the 2000 Baseball GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-District Team – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State baseball players Chad Ehrnsberger (Jr., Kalida, Ohio) and Jason Turner (Sr., Versailles, Ohio) have been selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSida) to the 2000 Baseball GTE Academic All-District team for District IV. A total of 11 student-athletes were selected to this year’s team.
The duo will now appear on the GTE Academic All-America national ballot. The GTE/CoSida Academic All-America Baseball team will be announced on June 6.
Ehrnsberger, an education major, is one of the top second basemen in the country. He is currently second on the team with a .343 batting average and nine home runs. Last year, he was a second team All-America honoree.
Turner, a business major, is putting together a career season. He leads OSU in all major hitting categories and is a candidate for Big Ten Player of the Year. The rightfielder is carrying a .385 batting average with 12 home runs and 54 runs batted in. Prior to this season, his teammates elected him co-captain.
A total of 11 male athletes from nine different Division I institutions comprise this year’s team. District IV includes all schools within the states of Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky and Michigan. To be nominated, the student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for his career. He must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing. True freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible.
