COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State outfielder Jason Turner was named Most Valuable Player of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. The Versailles native played outfield and first base for the Central Ohio Cows and set team records for both doubles (12) and runs batted in (33). In addition to leading the league in these categories, Turner finished fourth for hitting with a .357 average leading the Cows (28-11) to their first league championship.

Fellow Buckeyes Chad Ehrnsberger (2B, Kalida, Ohio) and Justin Fry (RHP, Munhall, Pa.) were also named to the league’s first team.

The Ohio-based Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League is one of nine wooden bat leagues across the country, sanctioned by the NCAA and sponsored in part by Major League Baseball.
