Six Buckeyes Qualify for Event Finals on Day One of Big Ten Championships

Nine Buckeyes recorded personal bests on day one.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team competed at the Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. this weekend.
Ohio State had six athletes earn spots in event finals on the first day of competition at the Big Ten Championships. Aniya Mosley and Naomi Clarke were the first Buckeyes to qualify for Saturday's event finals, recording personal bests in the women's 600m. Laila Campbell finished sixth in the women's 200m to qualify, while Dominic Calhoun, Nick Biega and Kyler Brown all placed in the top eight to earn spots in Saturday's men's 200m finals.
Victor Tornstrom and Sopuluchi Anosike are competing in the men's heptathlon this weekend for the Buckeyes. After the first day of competition Tornstrom is sitting in fourth place after earning 3,127 points and Anosike is in 16th with 2,160 points. Tornstrom's best performance came in the long jump, where he placed first with a career-best 7.49m/24'7.00" attempt. Both athletes recorded personal bests in three of the four events.

- Men's Heptathlon 60m: Tornstrom tied his personal best time of 7.00 and placed second, while Anosike recorded a PB 7.13 and placed 10th.
- Women's 200m: Campbell crossed the line in 23.60 to finish fifth and earn a spot in Saturday's finals.
- Men's 200m: Calhoun (20.91), Biega (21.04) and Brown (21.05) all earned a spot in Saturday's event finals.
- Women's 600m: Mosley (1:28.35) placed second and Clarke (1:29.16) placed eighth. Both times were personal bests and qualified for Saturday's finals.

- Men's Heptathlon Long Jump: Tornstrom jumped a career-best 7.49m/24'7.00" and finished first in the event. Anosike recorded a personal best of his own with a 7.08m/23'2.50" attempt and placed seventh.
- Men's Heptathlon Shot Put: Tornstrom secured a third-place finish with a personal best 12.88m/42'3.25" throw.
