Former Track and Field Head Coach Russ Rogers Named to the USTFCCCA Coaches Hall of Fame Class of 2026

Rogers was the head coach for the Ohio State track and field programs from 1989-2006 and coached more than 120 Buckeyes to Big Ten titles.
GRAPEVINE, Texas – Former head coach Russ Rogers is to be inducted into the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Coaches Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2026.
Inductees are selected based on a number of criteria that include historic achievements, long-lasting contributions to a program, leadership and a long-standing dedication to the sports of track and field and cross country.
During his time with the men’s and women’s track and field programs, Rogers led the teams as head coach from 1989-2006. He helped more than 120 Buckeyes to achieve Big Ten titles and collected back-to-back outdoor men’s titles in 1992 and ‘93. The team also earned the Big Ten indoor team title in 1993, helping Rogers secure the Big Ten Coach of the Year award in both the 1992 and ’93 seasons.
In addition to seeing success in the Big Ten, Rogers’ athletes also claimed several individual national titles. For his efforts, Rogers was named the NCAA Coach of the Year in 1992 and saw men’s team’s top finish coming in the next season as the national runners-up.
After retiring from Ohio State, Rogers maintained an affiliation with the sports by acting as a track consultant and coach for three local high schools.
The Hall of Fame Class of 2026 will be officially inducted in December at the annual USTFCCCA Convention in Grapevine, Texas.
