
Buckeyes to Face Two Top 25 Opponents at BRUCE BOLT College Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team (5-2) will face two top 25 opponents as the Buckeyes compete at the BRUCE BOLT College Classic benefiting the Astros Foundation this weekend at Daikin Park, home of the Houston Astros. Ohio State will match up with UTSA (7-1) on Friday, No. 25 Ole Miss (9-0) on Saturday and No. 3 Texas (8-0) on Sunday.

• The Buckeyes went 2-2 at the Grind City Classic last weekend, winning two games against Memphis and falling to Louisiana Tech twice.
• Ohio State beat Memphis by scores of 12-5 and 8-2. In the first game against the Tigers, Mason Eckelman had his first career two-home run game, which included a grand slam, and he batted in a career-high six runs. Starter Gavin Kuzniewski fanned a career-high nine in a 4.0-inning no-decision. Jake Michalak (1-0) earned the win. The Buckeye pitching staff combined for an impressive 21 strikeouts in the game.
• In the second game against the Tigers, Lee Ellis and Noah Furcht each hit their first home runs of the season. Pierce Herrenbruck (1-0) picked up his first career win on the mound. He struck out three in a career-high 6.0 IP.
• The Buckeyes fell to Louisiana Tech by scores of 6-0 and 9-3. In the first game against the Bulldogs, Eckelman, Furcht and Jacob Parr each recorded hits. Chris Domke (1-1) took the loss on the mound. He struck out a career-high seven in 4.1 innings pitched. Zak Sigman fanned five, tying his career-high, in 4.0 innings of relief.
• In game two against Louisiana Tech, Miles Vandenheuvel and Henry Kaczmar led the Buckeyes with two hits each. Jude Fisher (1-1) took the loss. He struck out a career-high five in 3.1 innings tossed.

• The Buckeyes swept a three-game series against Saint Louis at the Blue Wahoos Stadium on opening weekend and opened the season 3-0 for the first time since 2022.
• It was the Buckeyes' first series sweep since winning three games against Rival Miichigan in in 2023 to close out the regular season.
• It was the first opening weekend sweep for the Buckeyes since 2019, when they won three games against Seton Hall at the Snowbird Classic.
