
Buckeyes Win Series-Opener at Minnesota, 4-3

Game Recap
- With two outs in the top of the first inning, Noah Furcht, a Minnesota native, reached base on a Golden Gopher fielding error. Mason Eckelman stepped up to the plate next, and he sent a triple deep into right field, scoring Furcht to give the Buckeyes the early 1-0 lead.
- A two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning put Minnesota in the lead, 2-1.
- Eckelman came up big again in the top of the fourth, sending a solo home run over the right field wall to tie the score, 2-2.
- Alex Bemis walked to lead off the top of the sixth inning for the Buckeyes. Henry Kaczmar came up next and he went yard, sending one over the wall in center field to put the Buckeyes back in the lead, 4-2.
- In the bottom of the eighth, the Golden Gophers scored on a wild pitch to cut the Ohio State lead to one, 4-3. With the bases loaded, the Buckeyes turned a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning without any further damage.
- With two outs and bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, Ryan Zamora worked out of a jam, striking out the final Golden Gopher at the dish to ice the 4-3 win for the Buckeyes.
- Gavin Kuzniewski (2-1) earned the win on the mound. He struck out a career-high 10 batters and gave up two runs on one hit in 5.0 innings pitched.
- Zamora earned his first career save. He struck out two, gave up one hit and walked two in 1.0 inning pitched.
- Lincoln McVicker struck out a career-high four in 2.0 scoreless, hitless innings of relief.
- Eckelman led the Buckeyes with two hits. Eckelman and Kaczmar shared the team lead in RBIs with two each.
- The Buckeyes and Golden Gophers continue their series March 28-29. Saturday's game will start at 3 p.m. ET and Sunday's game will begin at 2 p.m. ET.
