COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team (10-28) lost its midweek contest against Toledo (17-23), 11-6, on Wednesday at Bill Davis Stadium.

Game Recap

In the bottom of the first inning, Trey Lipsey led off with a single up the middle then advanced to second on a wild pitch and to third on a throwing error. Tyler Pettorini drew a walk then stole second. Mason Eckelman also drew a walk to load the bases. Maddix Simpson reached lead on an error, which sent Lipsey and Pettorini home. Will Carpenter stepped up to the dish next and he sent a 372–foot home run out of the park to put the Buckeyes ahead, 4-0.
Sal Mineo drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the second inning, then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Reggie Bussey. Matthew Graveline singled to left field, scoring Mineo to extend the Buckeye lead to five, 5-0.
Toledo plated three runs in the top of the third inning to cut the Buckeye lead to two, 5-3.
In the bottom of the third inning, Eckelman sent a 402–foot home run over the right field wall to put the Buckeyes ahead, 6-3.
In the top of the fourth inning, Toledo scored on a sacrifice fly to get within two runs of of the Buckeyes, 6-4.
Toledo scored six in the top of the eighth inning to overtake the Buckeyes, 10-6.
In the top of the ninth inning, Toledo plated one run to get ahead by five, 11-6.
Graveline hit a single to center field with two outs in the bottom of the ninth but was left stranded and the Rockets came away with the win.

Carpenter and Graveline led the team with two hits each.
Carpenter led the team in RBIs with two.
Sahil Patel struck out four and allowed two runs on five hits in a career high 4.2 innings tossed.
Noah LaFine (0-1) took the loss. He allowed three runs on one hit in less than one inning pitched.
