COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State baseball graduate student Luke Carrell and his startup company, Side Coach Sports, will compete at the President's Buckeye Accelerator Finale on Wednesday, April 2.
The President's Buckeye Accelerator supports student entrepreneurs preparing a startup for launch. The accelerator combines entrepreneurship skill building, deep mentorship, community, and funding with a structured process. Through the program, six student-led ventures are awarded $50,000 each and invited to join the year-long accelerator after participating in Boost Camp, which is a semester-long program that empowers Ohio State students to develop impactful, sustainable businesses. The accelerator is the pinnacle of the Keenan Center for Entrepreneurship's continuum of student programs.
"It's an awesome opportunity to be a part of the President's Buckeye Accelerator," said Carrell. "I have learned so much in this program, and I have received a ton of support from my mentors and program directors, who have been awesome working with my academic and athletic schedule."
Side Coach Sports, developed by Carrell, Zach Carrell of Baylor University and Joadel Genuzio of the University of Oklahoma, is a web platform that connects college athletes to youth athletes for private lessons.
Earlier this year, Carrell finished in second place at the Best of Student Startups competition and won $10,000 toward his venture.
The President's Buckeye Accelerator Finale will be held Wednesday, April 2 at the Ohio Union (Archie M. Griffin Ballroom West), from 5-8 p.m. At the event, 11 ventures will compete for a place in the fourth annual accelerator cohort.
