Box Score
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 16 Ohio State men's lacrosse team won its sixth consecutive game, defeating the Bryant Bulldogs, out of Smithfield, R.I., 7-5, in a highly entertaining game at the Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. A crowd of 1,667 was on hand on a blustery, 33-degree afternoon to watch the Buckeyes improve to 6-1 on the season. Bryant drops to 2-2.
The Buckeyes led 2-1 after the first quarter, 3-2 at halftime and 5-3 after three quarters in a game that featured five first-half lead changes. Statistically, the teams combined for 47 turnovers (25 by Bryant) and Ohio State led with 37 shots to 32 for Bryant.
Ryan Donnery and Alex Marinier led Ohio State's offense with a pair of goals apiece. Garrett Haas increased his assist total to nine on the season with four helpers. Goalie Caleb Fyock made seven saves on the day.
The Short Story
For the sixth consecutive game, Ohio State never trailed in the contest. The team hasn't found itself behind in a game since the season opener vs. Utah. Donnery scored four minutes into the game to put Ohio State on top and, while the Bulldogs twice tied the score, they never were able to take the lead.
A three-goal burst early in the third quarter extended the lead to 5-2 and the Buckeyes worked for the win from there over the spunky Bulldogs. Bryant was well-prepared and ready for this game. The program is coached by former Ohio State assistant Brad Ross and the game was the first between the two programs in lacrosse.
This was the fifth time this season Ohio State has limited its opponent to five or fewer goals. Fyock, who is 6-0 on the season in goal, has been goalie in all five of those games and he leads the Big Ten, and is second nationally, allowing just five goals per game.
How it Happened
Ohio State takes to the road for the first time in 2025 and it will be a monster game: Saturday, March 8 against two-time defending national champion Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. The game will start at 2 p.m. and it will be televised on the ACC Network.
