McNamara Claims Minto Cup with Raiders Lacrosse

Luke McNamara led the Calgary Raiders with 12 goals as they became the first team from Calgary to win the title tournaments 125 years of existence.
CALGARY, Alberta – Ohio State rising junior Luke McNamara helped lead the Calgary Raiders a 2026 Minto Cup title on Sunday.Â
McNamara led the Calgary Raiders with 12 goals as they became the first team from Calgary to win the title tournaments 125 years of existence. The Minto Cup has been awarded annually to the champion junior men's box lacrosse team of Canada since 1901.Â
En route to winning the title, McNamara netted a goal in every win for the Raiders including three games where he had a hat trick. He set the tone in the championship series against Victoria Shamrocks, scoring three goals and assisting on another goal in the 9-7 victory.Â
In the winner take all game on Sunday, McNamara opened up the scoring at the 16:35 mark of the first period and then later assisted on the Raiders eighth goal of the game to lead Calgary to the 9-6 victory.Â
McNamara is set to enter his first season with the Buckeyes after transferring from Utah. In his two seasons at Utah, McNamara raised his game each year, being named to the ASUN All-Freshman Team in 2026 and then earning Second Team All-ASUN as a sophomore.Â
He led the Utes in goals scored each season, finding the back of the net 93 times so far in his career including a program-record breaking 60-goal campaign as a sophomore this past season. In 2026, McNamara led the nation in goals per game (4.28) and shooting percentage (.517), scoring three or more goals in 11 games and scored five-plus six times. Â
McNamara scored 10 goals against Iona, becoming the first Division I player since the 2020 season to reach double-digits in a single game; added an assist against the Gaels for 11 points, the second-most in a game in program history.Â
