Buckeyes In a Nutshell
- Ohio State earned its sixth consecutive win last Saturday with a 7-5 victory over Bryant. The game closed a seven-game homestand the team played in the first month of the season at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.
- The Buckeyes moved up to No. 15 in this week's USILA coaches' poll and Inside Lacrosse media poll and are checking in at 12th in the USA Lacrosse Division I men's top 20.
- This weekend's game on ACC Network is one of four televised games on the Buckeyes' 2025 schedule. The team will play Penn State (March 23) and Maryland (April 12) on the Big Ten Network. The matchup at John's Hopkins (April 5) will be on ESPNU.
- Ohio State is 1-0 against ranked opponents this season with a 14-5 win over then-ranked No. 12 Virginia. The team's 2025 schedule has seven ranked opponents on it, with four in the top 10.
- The Buckeyes are at the top of the Big Ten in caused turnovers per game (11.86), ground balls per game (37.00), points per game (21.86) and scoring offense (13.57). The team is top five nationally in the caused turnovers and ground balls per game categories.
- Junior defenseman Cullen Brown leads the league, and is top 10 nationally, with 2.43 caused turnovers a game. He has 17 on the year, accounting for over 20 percent of the team's caused turnovers this season. Brown also leads non-faceoff players on the team with 30 ground balls.
- The Buckeyes' defense has held five of its seven opponents to five goals or less this season. The team allows just 7.43 goals per game. The mark is sixth-best in the country.
- On attack, senior Alex Marinier paces the team, and Big Ten, with 21 goals on the year. Marinier and Garrett Haas (12G, 9A) are tied for the team lead with 21 points).
- Fifteen Buckeyes have recorded at least one goal this season and 24 have registered a point.
- Sophomore goaltender Caleb Fyock is 6-0 on the year for Ohio State. His .654 save percentage and 4.90 goals-against average are the best in the conference.
- Jack Oldman is 65-of-116 (.560) on the face off in seven games. His 65 wins put him at third in the conference and his win percentage is good for fifth in the league. His 45 ground balls are a team and league high. The sophomore has also scored three goals and added an assist for four points on the year.
- Bobby Van Buren was one of 12 men's lacrosse players added to the 2025 Tewaaraton Award watchlist this week.
- The senior captain is a critical piece of the Buckeyes' defensive success this season. He has shut down some of the best attackmen in the country and has helped the team hold five of its seven opponents to five or less goals this year.
- Van Buren has started every game this season and has 13 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers on the year for the Buckeyes.
- Ohio State is 24-37 in the all-time series vs. the Fighting Irish that started in 1964.
- The teams were original members of the Great Western Lacrosse League (GWLL) starting in 1994 and the team's faced off as conference opponents until 2008.
- The Buckeyes' last win in the series on the road was in 2019 with a 11-10Â overtime victory.
- In the last meeting between the teams, Notre Dame earned the 13-10 victory in Columbus.
- Ohio State has two more home games of the regular season schedule remaining. The Buckeyes will play Big Ten Conference home games vs. Rutgers (March 29) and Maryland (April 12).
