Buckeyes Finish Trio Meet Weekend with 33 Top Five Finishes

Ohio State tallied four wins and over 15 top three finishes between the PNC Lenny Lyles, Stan Scott & Notre Dame Meyo invites.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track & field wrapped up competition at three different meets on Saturday, coming away with four wins.
The Buckeyes split up to compete at the PNC Lenny Lyles (PNCLL), the Notre Dame Meyo (NDM) and the Stan Scott (SS) invitationals this weekend. In total, Ohio State had 33 top five finishes and over 15 of those were within the top three throughout various events. The Buckeyes had four event winners including Akemi Von Sherr (NDM, women's 3000m open, 9:38.64), Avery Clark (SS, women's 600y, 1:22.39), Edidiong Udo (SS, men's 400m, 45.61) and Devin Jordan (PNCLL, men's unseeded high jump, 2.09m/06-10.25).

Ohio State will undergo a split squad again, participating in the David Hemery Valentine (Boston, Mass.) and the Clemson Tiger Paw (Clemson, S.C.) invites. More information will be released closer to the meets.

Day Two: Saturday, Feb. 1
- Men's heptathlon: Sopuluchi Anosike and Braden Wakey landed in sixth and eighth place out of all heptathlon competitors. The heptathlon resumed with the 60m hurdles to begin the day. Anosike and Wakey finished in eighth (9.04) and ninth (9.16 – PR) place, respectively. In the pole vault, Wakey (sixth, 3.65m/11-11.75) and Anosike (eighth, 3.35m/10-11.75) were each top 10 finishers. To finish off the men's heptathlon, Anosike placed sixth in the 1000m with a time of 2:55.01 and Wakey came in ninth with a time of 3:23.95.
Day One: Friday, Jan. 31
- Women's pentathlon: Harris participated in five events to make up the pentathlon (60m hurdles, 800m, high jump, long jump and shot put) and finished sixth overall. In the 60m hurdles, Harris ran a time of 9.47 seconds, earning 11th place. She completed the 800m with a time of 2:38.63. Harris had strong performances in both the long and high jumps, tying her personal record for each. Her long jump distance of 5.47m/17-11.50 was the fifth best. She had a high jump distance of 1.70m/05-07.00, landing in third place. Harris' shot put toss went for 8.77m/28-09.25.
- Men's heptathlon: Sopuluchi Anosike and Braden Wakey both competed in a series of events including the 60m, long jump, shot put and high jump. In the 60m, Anosike placed seventh with a time of 7.35 seconds and Wakey was just shy of tying for 11th after finishing in 7.50 seconds. Anosike and Wakey each placed in the top 10 for long jump. Anosike came in eighth with a distance of 6.43m/21-01.25 and Wakey was ninth (6.35m/20-10.00). In the shot put, Wakey placed fifth after throwing 12.15m/39-08.62. Anosike tossed a distance of 8.80m/28-08.71. Each had top three performances in the high jump. Anosike (1.92m/06-03.50) placed second with Wakey coming in right behind him in third with a clearing height of 1.92m/06-03.50. The other three events to complete the heptathlon (60m hurdles, pole vault and 1000m) will take place tomorrow, Feb. 1.
TRACK RESULTS
Stan Scott Invite & Multis
Day Three: Saturday, Feb. 1
- Women's 200m: Fatouma Conde placed third with a time of 23.57 seconds, a season best. Leah Bertrand (24.04), Bobbi Olive (24.50) and Sydney Bryant (24.76) also partook in the event.
- Men's 200m: Nazzio John ran a season-best 21.40, while Nick Biega finished the event in 21.57 seconds.
- Women's 4x400: Two Ohio State teams participated in the women's 4x400 relay. The first (Conde, Olivia Powell, Michaela McCall and Bryant) finished fourth with a time of 3:40.98. The second team (Avery Clark, Olive, Janela Spencer, Katie Ruffener) completed the relay in 3:58.13.
- Men's 4x400: Noah Carmichael, Udo, Mason Louis, Shohaan Singh made up the only men's team to participate, landing second with a time of 3:08.89.
Notre Dame Meyo Invitational
Day Two: Saturday, Feb. 1
- Women's 400m: Arden La-Rose completed the event in 58.84 seconds.
- Women's 800m (open): Amelia Filer finished fourth with a time of 2:11.12.
- Women's 800m championship: Carina Napoleon ran a season best 2:09.41 to finish 11th.
- Women's 3000m (open): Akemi Von Scherr placed first with a season best 9:38.64.
- Women's 3000m final: Daniella Santos ran a season best 9:36.13, improving on her previous season-best by a little over three seconds.
Stan Scott Invite & Multis
Day Two: Friday, Jan. 31
- Women's 60m first round: Leah Bertrand, Olive and Fatouma Conde all earned a qualification, moving to the semifinals. Bertrand ran a 7.30, which not only placed her in second, but also tied her season best. Olive had a time of 7.49 seconds, coming in 11th. Conde rounded out the qualifiers with a time of 7.56 seconds. Sydney Bryant also participated, earning a time of 7.63.
- Women's 60m semifinals: Bertrand finished second again with a time of 7.21 seconds, a personal season best. Olive also had a top 10 finish, placing sixth with a time of 7.39 seconds, also a season best for her. Bertrand and Olive each qualified for the finals. Conde just missed qualification, but she placed 12th with a season best 7.47 second time.
- Women's 60m finals: Bertrand and Olive each were top five finishers. Bertrand placed second (7.26) and Olive placed fifth, breaking her season best from the semifinals with a new time of 7.39 seconds.
- Men's 60m first round: John came in fourth with a qualifying time of 6.71 seconds. Nick Biega completed the event in 6.96 seconds.
- Men's 60m semifinals: John placed fourth again, this time with a season best time of 6.69 seconds and qualified for the finals.
- Men's 60m finals: John finished in second place, earning another season best time of 6.64 seconds – just 0.01 seconds shy of his personal best.
- Women's 60m hurdles first round: Olivia Powell and Janela Spencer both placed in the top five. Powell (8.34) landed in second and Spencer (8.45) finished in fifth. Katie Ruffener recorded a time of 8.64 seconds. All three Buckeye women earned qualifications for the semifinals.
- Women's 60m hurdles semifinals round: Powell and Spencer each landed in the top five again, this time with Powell (8.20) coming in fourth and Spencer (8.21) coming in fifth again. Ruffener finished with a time of 8.64 seconds. Powell and Spencer each set season bests and Ruffener tied her season best. Powell and Spencer also received qualifications to participate in the finals.
- Women's 60m hurdles finals: Powell and Spencer placed in the top five for the third round in a row with Powell (8.19) in fourth and Spencer (8.22) in fifth again. Powell recorded a season-high 60m hurdle time.
- Men's 60m hurdles first round: Malik Mixon ran the 60m hurdles in 8.21 seconds, qualifying for the next round.
- Men's 60m hurdles semifinals: Mixon finished with a time of 8.25 seconds.
- Women's 400m: Michaela McCall placed fourth with a season high 54.45 seconds.
- Men's 400m: Udo landed in first place with a time of 45.61 to put him third on the program's all-time performers list behind Tyler Johnson (45.07 in 2021) and Andrew Pierce (45.46 in 2001). Noah Carmichael had a time of 47.21 seconds, good for eighth place. Mason Louis made his season debut, clocking a time of 48.83 seconds.
- Women's 600y: Clark secured the Buckeyes' second win of the day with a time of 1:22.39.
Notre Dame Meyo Invitational
Day One: Friday, Jan. 31
- Women's 600m: Amelia Figler (1:32.38), Carina Napoleon (1:32.54) and Lilly Eckels (1:33.02) came in sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively. Figler, Eckels and Arden La-Rose (1:34.85) all had season best performances.
- Women's 5000m: Ana Karmol finished with a time of 17:25.64.
- Men's 5000m: Liam Shaughnessy landed in 10th with a time of 12:22.71, Keegan Freyhof finished a time of 14:31.76 and Colby Adams, 14:36.09.
FIELD RESULTS
PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational
Day Two: Saturday, Feb. 1
- Women's shot put: Lacey Stringer's best mark (16.53m/54-02.75) was third in the competition and Morgan Hallett finished ninth with a season-best throw of 14.22m/46-08.00.
- Men's shot put: Michael Lunsford threw for a distance of 16.43m/53-11.00. He not only placed fourth, but also set a new personal record. Dylan Chittum finished seventh overall with a distance of 15.29m/50-02.00, a season best.
- Men's unseeded high jump: Devin Jordan and Sean Kaminski had the two best performances in the event, both recording a season best. Jordan finished first (2.09m/06-10.25) and Kaminski was right behind him with the same height clearance.
Stan Scott Invite & Multis
Day Three: Saturday, Feb. 1
- Women's pole vault: Sophie Fong and Morgan Fijalkowski each placed in the top five. Fong finished second with a clearance of 3.95m/12-11.50 and Fijalkowski cleared a height of 3.80m/12-05.50, landing in fourth.
PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational
Day One: Friday, Jan. 31
- Women's high jump, seeded: Amaya Ugarte cleared the second-best height of 1.78m/05-10.00.
- Women's weight throw: Bidwell (18.74m/61-05.75) and Hallett (17.32m/56-10.00) each recorded personal records while coming in fifth and 10th.
- Men's weight throw: Tanner Watson led the Buckeyes in eighth place with a distance of 18.00m/59-00.75. Jack Knapke threw 16.23m/53-03.00. Maag tossed a personal record of 15.74m/51-07.75. Michael Lunsford delivered a distance of 14.23m/46-08.25. Dylan Chittum threw for a distance of 12.20m/40-00.50.

Day Two: Friday, Jan. 31
- Women's long jump: Sydnee Burr came in fourth with a distance of 6.00m/19-08.75.
- Men's long jump: Brian Kellon landed in sixth, jumping for 7.22m/23-08.25.
