
Buckeyes Fall to Indiana in B1G Tournament Quarterfinals

Game Recap
- The Hoosiers struck first, taking an early 5-0 lead over the Buckeyes in the top of the second inning after a sacrifice fly, a two-RBI double and two RBI doubles.
- Matthew Graveline was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the third inning, followed by a walk from Ryan Miller to put two runners on. Josh Stevenson was then walked to load the bases. Graveline and Miller scored on an Indiana error to put the Buckeyes on the board. Stevenson scored on an RBI groundout from Isaac Cadena and Henry Kaczmar, who had reached base on a fielder's choice, scored on a balk to leave Ohio State trailing by just one run, 5-4.
- Joseph Mershon led off with a single up the middle in the fourth and then stole second. With one out, Graveline drew a walk. A single from Miller sent Mershon home and tied the score, 5-5. A single from Stevenson loaded the bases, but all three runners were stranded.
- An RBI fielder's choice and an RBI groundout for the Hoosiers in the top of the fifth frame put them back in the lead, 7-5.
- The Hoosiers took a three-run lead, 8-5, after an RBI double in the top of the sixth.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Kaczmar was walked and, with two outs, Mershon and Mitchell Okuley drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. All three runners, however, were left on base.
- Indiana added to its lead in the top of the eighth inning, getting ahead of the Buckeyes 12-5 after a solo home run, an RBI double, an RBI single and a score on a sacrifice fly.
- Miller and Stevenson both drew walks to lead off the bottom of the eighth, and both advanced into scoring position on a wild pitch. Trey Lipsey also walked to load the bases once again for the Buckeyes. A single into left center from Kaczmar plated Miller and a groundout from Cadena sent Stevenson home to cut the Indiana lead to five, 12-7. The bases were soon loaded again as Tyler Pettorini reached on a fielder's choice and Mershon singled to left field, but the runners were left on base once again.
- An RBI fielder's choice and an RBI single for the Hoosiers in the top of the ninth extended their lead, 14-7.
- With one out in the bottom of the ninth, Miller and Stevenson drew back-to-back walks. With two outs, Kaczmar singled to left field to load up the bases but the Hoosiers got the final out to come away with the 14-7 win.
- The Buckeyes were walked 13 times in the game, which is a Big Ten Tournament record. Stevenson was walked four times, which is also a Big Ten Tournament record.
- Kaczmar and Mershon led the Buckeyes in hits with two each.
- Cadena had a team-high two RBIs.
- Starter Gavin DeVooght struck out one and allowed five runs on four hits in a 1.2-inning no-decision.
- Blaine Wynk (2-1) took the loss. He struck out two and gave up seven runs, three of which were earned, on seven hits in 3.2 innings pitched.
- The Buckeyes will face No. 2 Nebraska for the second time this week, taking on the Cornhuskers in an elimination game on Friday, May 24 at 3:00 p.m. ET.
