Game Recap
- The Huskers, who the Buckeyes earned a 15-2 run-rule victory over in the first round of the tournament, took the early lead, getting ahead of the Buckeyes, 3-0, after a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning.
- Mitchell Okuley had the first hit of the game for the Buckeyes, hitting a two-out single in the top of the second, but there was nothing else doing for Ohio State in the inning.
- Nebraska added a run in the bottom of the second inning off an RBI single to take a 4-0 lead over the Buckeyes.
- Ryan Miller was walked to lead off the third inning and advanced to second on a wild pitch. A single to right center from Trey Lipsey plated Miller to cut the Husker lead to three, 4-1.
- An RBI double from Nebraska in the bottom of the third put the Huskers back ahead of Ohio State by four, 5-1.
- Tyler Pettorini doubled to center field to lead off the top of the fourth and then stole third. A groundout from Hunter Rosson sent Pettorini home to leave the Buckeyes trailing by three, 5-2.
- With one out in the top of the fifth, Lipsey drew a walk. A double from Henry Kaczmar sent Lipsey to third and Lipsey scored on a Nebraska error to put the Buckeyes within two runs of the lead, 5-3.
- In the bottom of the fifth, a solo home run from the Huskers put them back ahead by three, 6-3.
- In the top of the sixth, Matthew Graveline hit a two-out infield single, but he was left on base.
- Nebraska added to their run total in the bottom of the seventh, taking a 9-3 lead after an RBI double and a two-RBI single.
- An RBI single and a two-RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Huskers a 12-3 lead over Ohio State.
- Okuley drew a walk to lead off the top of the ninth, followed by a single into left field from Graveline. Pinch hitter Nick Giamarusti was then walked to load the bases. With one out, Lipsey singled to left field to score Okuley. A groundout from Kaczmar sent Graveline home to cut the Nebraska lead to seven, 12-5, but the Buckeyes were not able to overcome the Cornhuskers in the teams' second matchup of the tournament.
- Lipsey and Graveline led the Buckeyes in hits with two each.
- Lipsey had a team-high two RBIs.
- Colin Purcell (3-5) took the loss on the mound. He struck out one and allowed five runs on four hits in 2.2 innings pitched.
- Gavin Bruni fanned three and gave up three runs on two hits in 3.2 innings of relief.
