Ohio State won by scores of 25-10, 25-16, 25-13.

Thomas Poole, Noah Platfoot, Michael Wright, Justin Howard, Jacob Pasteur and program technical coordinator Nate Wilson were honored after the match on Senior Night.

Kyle Teune led both teams with 10 kills on 12 swings for a hitting percentage of .833. Platfoot (18) and Wright (14) combined for 32 assists. Wright added six kills and Platfoot four. Poole and Platfoot each had a match eight six digs.

Cole Young led with six blocks.

The Buckeyes finished the regular season in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association in third place with an 11-5 record. Ohio State will host a quarterfinal match in the 2024 MIVA Tournament April 13. Game time and opponent will be announced once all regular-season MIVA matches are completed this weekend. Â

How it Happened

Set 1
Justin Howard got the Buckeyes started with a pair of kills in building a 4-2 lead. The Saints called timeout after a 6-0 run put Ohio State in the lead 12-5. Michael Wright had a pair of kills during the run that ended before break with a Noah Platfoot ace. Ohio State scored six of the next eight points for an 18-7 lead. Maryville called its final timeout of the set with the Buckeyes up 20-9. Kyle Teune made it 23-9 with an ace and his kill led to set point at 24-10. The Buckeyes then took the first set 25-10 after a Saints error. The Buckeyes hit .556 in the opener with Teune leading the way with four kills. Â Â Â

Set 2
Ohio State led 7-6 in a back-and-forth affair to open the second. The Buckeyes then built a 15-10 lead and started to pull away after a Cole Young kill from the middle to make it 16-11. Teune added an ace before a Maryville timeout while trailing 17-11 and the Buckeyes on a 4-1 run. Teune had kills on 8-9 swings to this point while hitting .889. Howard made it 22-15 with a kill from the middle on an overpass to lead to a Saints timeout with the Buckeyes up 22-15. Leading 24-16, Hudson Harris got the final kill for a 25-16 win for the Buckeyes. Teune led with 10 kills on 11 swings (.909) after two sets. Ohio State hit .682 in the set and was at .604 for the match.

Maryville called a timeout after the Buckeyes built at 7-3 lead after a 4-0 run. Ohio State used another run (3-0) run to make it 10-4. A Ben Putnam kill put Ohio State on top 13-6. Jacob Pasteur's first kill of the night made it 15-8 Buckeyes. Ohio State scored the next three on a Saints error and a pair of Buckeye blocks for a 18-8 lead. Maryville called timeout after Ohio State's 5-1 run. A Platfoot kill increased the advantage to 21-10. A Saints service error and Pasteur kill led to match point with Ohio State up 24-13. Howard then got the match winning kill for the 25-13 win.
