LINCOLN, Neb. – The Ohio State baseball team (12-13, 2-2 Big Ten) fell to No. 23 Nebraska (21-6, 4-0 Big Ten), 3-0, on Friday night.

- Trey Lipsey had the first hit of the game for the Buckeyes, leading off with a short single to the pitcher in the top of the first, but he was stranded on base.
- Nebraska got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning. With bases loaded, a Cornhusker grounded into a double play, giving the runner at third time to score put Nebraska ahead, 1-0.
- A two-RBI single from the Cornhuskers in the bottom of the third inning extended their lead over Ohio State, 3-0.
- With one out in the top of the fifth inning, Mitchell Okuley singled to right field. There was nothing else doing for the Buckeyes, however, and they remained behind the Cornhuskers, 3-0.
- With one out on the board in the bottom of the fifth frame, Chase Herrell took over on the mound. He struck out both batters he faced in the inning swinging.
- Jacob Morin came out of the bullpen for the Buckeyes in the bottom of the seventh with two outs and runners on the corners. He fanned two to get Ohio State out of the inning unscathed.
- Logan Jones entered the game for the Buckeyes in the bottom of the eighth and fanned three straight Cornhuskers, catching them all swinging. Nebraska still had the lead, 3-0.
- The Buckeyes were retired in order in the ninth and fell to the Cornhuskers, 3-0, in the opening game of the teams' three-game series.
- Lipsey and Okuley each had one hit.
- Landon Beidelschies (3-5) took the loss on the mound. In 4.1 innings pitched, he struck out four and gave up three runs on six hits.
- Herrell struck out two and allowed just one hit in 2.0 innings tossed.
- Morin fanned two and Jones struck out three; neither gave up any hits.
- The Buckeyes continue their series against the Cornhuskers April 6-7. Due to incoming inclement weather, Saturday's game has been moved up to 1:00 p.m. ET. Sunday's game will also begin at 1:00 p.m. ET.
