LINCOLN, Neb. – Despite leading 2-0 into the fifth inning, the Ohio State baseball team (12-14, 2-3 Big Ten) was defeated by No. 23 Nebraska (22-6, 5-0 Big Ten), 7-3, on Saturday afternoon at Haymarket Park.

- Tyler Pettorini had the first hit of the game for the Buckeyes, leading off with a single in the top of the second inning.
- In the top of the third, with two outs on the board, Josh Stevenson went yard, sending one over the wall in right field to give Ohio State a 1-0 lead over the Cornhuskers.
- Henry Kaczmar led off with a single to right field in the top of the fourth frame, followed by an infield single from Matthew Graveline to put two runners on base for the Buckeyes. Mitchell Okuley singled through the right side to plate Kaczmar and give Ohio State a 2-0 lead over Nebraska.
- A two-run home run from the Cornhuskers in the bottom of the fifth inning tied the score, 2-2. Nebraska continued its momentum in the inning, taking the lead, 6-2, after three RBI doubles and an RBI single.
- In the top of the seventh, Pettorini and Joseph Mershon each drew walks to get on base. Pettorini advanced to third on a fly-out from Zach Fjelstad to put runners on the corners, but both were left on base.
- An RBI triple from the Cornhuskers in the bottom of the eighth extended their lead, 7-2.
- With one out in the top of the ninth, Pettorini reached base after being hit by a pitch and he was able to advance to third on the next two plays. A single through the right side from Mershon with two outs on the board scored Pettorini, but that would be the Buckeyes' final run of the game as they fell to the Cornhuskers, 7-3.
- Kaczmar, Graveline, Pettorini, Okuley, Mershon and Stevenson combined for the Buckeyes' six hits on the day.
- Gavin Bruni (2-1) took the loss. He fanned three and allowed three runs on three hits in 4.1 innings pitched.
- The Buckeyes play their series finale against the Cornhuskers on Sunday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
