
Hot Hitting Earns Buckeye Dominant 16-1 Win Over Michigan

Game Recap
- The Wolverines took an early lead, scoring on an RBI double in the bottom of the first to get ahead 1-0. It would be Michigan's only run of the game.
- Josh Stevenson led off with a single into right field in the top of the third frame. Ryan Miller stepped up to the plate next, and he went long, sending the ball over the wall in left center to plate two runs and give the Buckeyes a 2-1 lead over the Wolverines. Trey Lipsey was hit by a pitch to reach base for Ohio State and, with two outs, Tyler Pettorini tripled to right center, sending Lipsey home to give the Buckeyes a two-run lead, 3-1.
- In the top of the sixth, the Buckeye bats really started to come alive. Okuley led off with a single to right field, followed by a single to center field from Joseph Mershon. Isaac Cadena hit into a double play, but Okuley and Mershon advanced into scoring position. A single to left field from Stevenson plated Okuley. Back-to-back singles from Lipsey and Kacmzar sent two runs across and extended the Ohio State lead, 6-1.
- With one out on the board in the top of the seventh, Okuley was plunked by a pitch to get on base. With two outs, Cadena doubled to left field, marking his seventh straight game with a hit, to drive in Okuley. Stevenson then doubled to left field to plate Cadena. Miller and Lipsey drew back-to-back walks to load the bases for the Buckeyes. Kaczmar was then walked, sending Stevenson home to put Ohio State ahead by eight, 9-1.
- Pettorini walked to lead off the eighth inning for Ohio State and advanced to third on back-to-back wild pitches. Okuley was also walked to put two runners on. A sacrifice fly from Mershon sent Pettorini home. With two outs, Stevenson singled to first base. Pinch hitter Hunter Rosson stepped up next, and he hit the wall in left field for a double, which plated two runs. An RBI single from Kaczmar sent Rosson home and gave the Buckeyes a dominant 13-1 lead over the Wolverines.
- Zach Freeman drew a walk to open the ninth inning and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Will Carpenter and Stevenson were also walked to load the bases. Rosson singled through the left side to drive in Freeman. Pinch hitter Zach Fjelstad came up to bat and doubled to right field, plating the final two runs of the game for the Buckeyes. Ohio State led, 16-1, going into the bottom of the ninth.
- After the lead-off hitter being hit by a pitch to reach base, the next three Wolverines were retired in order to clinch the victory for the Buckeyes.
- Stevenson led the Buckeyes with a career-high four hits, going 4-for-5 at the plate. He also scored a career-high five runs.
- Kaczmar, Okuley and Rosson each had two hits.
- Kaczmar and Rosson led the team in RBIs with three each. Stevenson, Miller and Fjelstad each batted in two runs.
- Gavin Bruni (3-2) allowed just one hit and one run in 5.0 innings pitched. He struck out six en route to the win.
- Chase Herrell and Hunter Shaw each fanned two in relief appearances.
- The Buckeyes wrap up their series against the Wolverines on Sunday, April 21 at 1:00 p.m.
