Game Recap
- Trey Lipsey drew a walk to lead off the game and with one out, Matthew Graveline was also walked. An infield single from Tyler Pettorini loaded the bases for the Buckeyes. Mitchell Okuley reached base on a fielder's choice, scoring Okuley to give Ohio State a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
- Lipsey hit a two-out double in the top of the second and Henry Kaczmar was intentionally walked to put two runners on for the Buckeyes, but they were left on base.
- In the bottom of the second, the Wolverines scored on a Buckeye error to tie the score, 1-1.
- With one out on the board in the top of the third, Okuley doubled to the left field corner. Mershon was then hit by a pitch, putting runners on first and second for the Buckeyes. Issac Cadena reached on a fielder's choice which moved Okuley into scoring position at third base, but Okuley was thrown out at home to end the inning and keep the score tied, 1-1.
- In the top of the sixth, Mershon singled to right field to lead off the inning. Josh Stevenson hit a one-out double to right field, putting two runners into scoring position for the Buckeyes. After a Michigan pitching change, Hunter Rosson came in to pinch hit and came up big, singling to right center field to plate two runs and put the Buckeyes back in the lead, 3-1.
- In the bottom of the sixth, a three-run home run followed by a solo home run from the Wolverines put them ahead of the Buckeyes by two runs, 5-3.
- Pettorini doubled to left field to lead off the seventh and advanced to third on a groundout from Okuley. Pettorini scored on a sacrifice fly from Mershon to leave the Buckeyes trailing by just one run, 5-4.
- In the bottom of the seventh inning, a two-RBI double from the Wolverines extended their lead, 7-4.
- Kaczmar doubled to left center field to lead off the bottom of the ninth for the Buckeyes. Kaczmar, who swiped third, scored on a sacrifice fly from Pettorini to cut the Wolverine lead to two, 7-5. Michigan, however, got the final out of the game to win the game, 7-5, and the season series, 2-1.
- Pettorini led the Buckeyes at the plate, going 3-for-4. Lipsey added two hits.
- Rosson had a team-high two RBIs.
- Lipsey and Kaczmar each had one stolen base.
- Gavin DeVooght recorded a career-high six strikeouts in a 5.0-inning no-decision. He allowed one run on four hits.
- Colin Purcell (1-4) took the loss on the mound. He allowed four runs on four hits in 0.2 innings pitched.
- The Buckeyes play at Wright State on Tuesday, April 23 at 3:00 p.m. and welcome Michigan State to Bill Davis Stadium for a three-game series April 26-28.
