- The Buckeye offense came alive in the top of the fifth inning. Mitchell Okuley led off with a double to right center field and advanced to third base on a fly-out. With two outs on the board, Nick Giamarusti tripled to right center, sending Okuley home to tie the score, 1-1. Trey Lipsey stepped up the plate next and there was no doubt as soon as he made contact with the ball that it would sail out of the park; Lipsey batted in two runs on his first homer of the season to give the Buckeyes the lead, 3-1.
- Both teams remained scoreless until the top of the seventh inning. With one out on the board and facing a new Sun Devil pitcher, Josh Stevenson stepped up to the plate and cranked his first home run as a Buckeye out of the park to put Ohio State up by three, 4-1. With two outs, Lipsey was hit by a pitch to get on base and shortstop Henry Kaczmar, who was next up, belted one over the left field fence to score two runs and give the Buckeyes their largest lead of the game so far, 6-1.
- In the top of the eighth, with two outs, Okuley singled to center field. Hunter Rosson then drew a walk to put two runners on. Stevenson once again came up big for the Buckeyes, doubling to right center field to drive in two runs and extend the Ohio State lead to seven, 8-1.
- The Sun Devils answered with a three-run home run in the home half of the eighth, but the Buckeyes remained in the lead, 8-4.
- Lipsey led off with a double in the ninth and advanced to third base on a Kaczmar groundout. A wild pitch from the Arizona State pitcher gave Lipsey time to score and put Ohio State back up by five, 9-4. Matthew Graveline and Zach Fjelstad drew back-to-back walks and Joseph Mershon was hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Okuley was next up and he singled through the ride side, scoring Graveline and Fjelstad to give the Buckeyes the 11-4 advantage.
- Tim Baird came in to close out the game for the Buckeyes; he caught two batters swinging. A groundout to Fjelstad at third base ended the game and secured the 11-4 win for Ohio State.
