Basics on the Buckeyes
- Following a 3-0 win at Kent State last Sunday, Ohio State is 12-3 overall and 4-1 in Big Ten play. The Buckeyes are ranked No. 9 in this week's NFHCA poll.
- Ohio State continues to have one of the best offenses in the country and enter the weekend ranked No. 4 in scoring (3.27 goals/game), No. 4 in penalty corners generated (8.80/game) and first in total goals scored (49).
- Leading that charge is Makenna Webster, who has 38 points and currently sits sixth nationally in points per game (2.53) and goals per game (1.00).
- The Buckeyes have been far from a one-person show, however. The duo of freshman Brenna Bough and graduate student Julie Rodijk has combined for 36 points on 16 goals and four assists.
- In a 3-0 win at Kent State on Sunday, Rodijk scored twice and Webster had two assists. Bough, meanwhile, is a two-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
- In goal, Abby Danson will make her 54th career start of Friday. She enters the weekend with a 1.17 goals against average, .742 save percentage and 49 total stops.
Promotions This Weekend
- Friday's game vs. Rutgers is Ohio State's annual Pride Game. Annually, the program teams with Buckeye Spectrum to promote the creation of a welcome space for LGBTQIA+ student-athletes and allies.
- Sunday is slated to be the Buckeyes' Pink Game. Members of the team will be sporting pink socks to support cancer awareness throughout the month of October.
Two B1G Games
- This weekend's games are Ohio State's final two of the regular season against Big Ten competition. With a 4-2 record, the Buckeyes are currently third in the conference standings behind Northwestern (5-0) and Rutgers (3-0).
- Maryland is 2-1 in Big Ten play and faces Michigan in Ann Arbor on Sunday before Sunday's game at Ohio State.
- This year's Big Ten Tournament will take place at Ocker Field on the campus of the University of Michigan Nov. 2-5. The regular season champion and No. 1 seed will receive a bye while seeds No. 2-7 play quarterfinal games on Thursday, Nov. 2.
Buckeye This and That
- Friday will be the 14th all-time meeting between Ohio State and Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights lead the series 7-6 and five of the last seven meetings have been decided by one goal.
- The Buckeyes are on pace to challenge their single-season record for both goals scored and goals per game. The goals scored record is 71, set in 23 games during the 2010 season. In 2006, Ohio State averaged 3.47 goals/game over 19 games.
- If the season ended today, Ohio State's average of 3.27 goals per game would be second-best in program history.
- All three of Ohio State's remaining regular season games are at home where the Buckeyes are 6-1 on the season. Over the last two seasons, Ohio State is 12-5 at Buckeye Varsity Field.
