
Cota Travels to Spain with U.S. Men's National Team

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State field hockey assistant coach Patrick Cota is headed to Spain with the U.S Men's National Team (USMNT).
Cota is one of the USMNT's assistant coaches and will be with the team in Valencia, Spain Jan. 15-25. The team will hold a training camp and participate in an unsanctioned 4 Nations Tournament as they prepare for the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifier, which is coming up in early March.
After a five-day training block, the No. 25 USMNT will take on No. 11 Ireland on Wednesday, Jan. 21, No. 18 Japan on Thursday, Jan. 22, No. 5 Spain on Saturday, Jan. 24, and then will have a final crossover game on Sunday, Jan. 25. Although unsanctioned by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), the 4 Nations Tournament will serve as the final evaluation opportunity for the USMNT staff to select the squad to compete at the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifier.
