COLUMBUS, Ohio – Rosters for the Ohio State baseball team’s annual Scarlet & Gray Series have been set, head coach Greg Beals announced Wednesday. Director of baseball operations Blair Everhart will serve as general manager of the Scarlet team alongside bullpen coach Andrew Magno while volunteer assistant coach Kirby Pellant will manage the Gray side along with bullpen coach Jalen Washington.
The opener of the annual series is slated for 6 p.m. Thursday at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium with the middle game slated for 3 p.m. Saturday and the finale of the best-of-three series slated for 2 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free to all three contests.
Freshman Wyatt Loncar will get the ball for Gray in the opener while Everhart has tabbed senior Joe Gahm for Scarlet. Sophomore right-hander Garrett Burhenn will start for Scarlet against Gray redshirt sophomore left-hander Seth Lonsway in the middle game while starters for the finale are TBA.
Ohio State returns 21 letterwinners from the 2019 Big Ten Tournament championship team. The Buckeyes, whose 36 wins in 2019 were the second-most in Beals’ nine seasons in Columbus, welcome back six starting position players and all three weekend starters while trying to build on their third NCAA Regional appearance in the last four seasons.
