COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team fell, 9-3, against Lipscomb Saturday afternoon at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. Cade Sorrells hit a grand slam in the top of the ninth to seal the win for the Bisons (10-7). Lipscomb reliever Max Habegger picked up the win after striking out six in three innings of relief. Ohio State falls to 8-10 on the year.
OHIO STATE ON THE BOARD
The Buckeyes scored first with a run in the bottom of the fourth on a sac fly by Nate Romans. Cherry led off the at-bat with a double to the gap in left center.
MIDDLE INNING SCORING PLAYS
Back-to-back doubles by Tevin Symonette and Zeke Dodson gave Lipscomb a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth.
Dominic Canzone made it a 3-2 deficit in the bottom half with a sac fly to score Noah West. The Bisons scored two more runs in the sixth on a wild pitch and bloop single. Canzone drove in his second run of the game in the bottom of the seventh on a RBI triple off the wall in center.
ON THE MOUND
Ohio State starting pitcher Griffan Smith threw five innings and gave up three runs on two hits with six walks and four strikeouts to drop to 3-1. Right-handed reliever TJ Brock had 2.1 innings of relief on two runs, two hits, three walks and one strikeout. Right-handed reliever Bayden Root allowed two runs on one hit with one walk and one strikeout in 0.2 innings. Right-handed reliever Thomas Waning allowed two runs on one hit with two walks and one strikeout.

Ohio State and Lipscomb conclude the series at 1 p.m. Sunday at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The game will be streamed on BTN Plus ($). Redshirt freshman left-handed pitcher Seth Lonsway (1-2, 7.27). is on the mound for the Scarlet and Gray.
