Buckeyes Roll to Seventh Straight Win, Third Consecutive Weekend Sweep

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team (17-13, 7-5 Big Ten) shut out Maryland (13-18, 2-10 Big Ten), 7-0, in the teams' series finale on Sunday. It is the Buckeyes' seventh straight win, and third straight weekend sweep.

- Lee Ellis walked to lead off the second inning for the Buckeyes, then stole second and third. Maddix Simpson walked, and then with one out, Grant Mangrum also walked to load the bases. Alex Bemis was then walked to send Ellis home and put the Buckeyes on the board. Henry Kaczmar stepped was next up and he singled through the left side, sending two runs home. With two outs on the board, Dane Harvey singled up the middle, sending two more runs home to extend the Buckeye lead, 5-0.
- Ellis doubled down the left field line to lead off the bottom of the sixth and with one out, he stole third. Miles Vandenheuvel walked and then stole second, but both runners were left stranded.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Harvey was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Ellis then walked and Simpson singled to third base to load the bases. Ellis scored on a Maryland error to extend the Ohio State lead, 6-0.
- In the bottom of the eighth, Furcht singled to left field and with one out, he advanced to second on a balk. A groundout from Harvey advanced Furcht to third, and Furcht scored on a passed ball to put Ohio State ahead, 7-0.
- The Terrapins were retired in order in the ninth as the Buckeyes secured the series sweep.
- The Buckeyes have swept back-to-back Big Ten series for the first time since the 2009 season and are on their longest winning streak since 2023 when they won nine games straight to close out the season.
- Kaczmar and Harvey led the Buckeyes in RBIs with three each.
- Ellis stole a career-high three bases.
- Pierce Herrenbruck (3-1) earned the win. He fanned five and allowed just four hits in 5.2 scoreless innings.
- The Buckeyes host Bowling Green on Tuesday, April 7 at 6 p.m.
