
Buckeyes Down Michigan State, 15-5, in Eight Innings

Game Recap
- In the bottom of the second inning, Dane Harvey was walked and sent home on an RBI double from to put the Buckeyes on the board. Mason Eckelman reached first on a fielder's choice and Simpson advanced to third. Lee Ellis then reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. A double from Henry Kaczmar cleared the bases and gave the Buckeyes a 5-0 lead over the Spartans.
- Michigan State got on the board in the top of the fifth inning after an RBI single to cut the Ohio State lead to four, 5-1.
- With one out in the bottom of the third, Noah Furcht walked, Harvey singled through the right side and Simpson was hit by a pitch to load up the bases. A single through the right side from Eckelman sent Furcht home and a bases-loaded walk from Ellis scored Harvey. Simpson scored on a Spartan error to give the Buckeyes a commanding 8-1 lead.
- A three-run home run from Michigan State in the top of the sixth inning cut the Buckeye lead back to four, 8-4.
- With one out in the bottom of the sixth inning, Kaczmar doubled to right field. With two outs, Harvey stepped up to the dish and he demolished his 16th home run of the season to plate two runs and give Ohio State a 10-4 lead over the Spartans.
- Michigan State added a run in the top of the seventh after scoring on a Buckeye error, but Ohio State led by five, 10-5.
- Miles Vandenheuvel was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the seventh frame and with one out, Kaczmar walked. The pair successfully executed a double steal to get into scoring position. Furcht doubled down the left field line to send both runners home and extend the Ohio State lead, 12-5.
- Four Buckeyes were hit by pitches in the bottom of the eighth, which results in two runs scored. Furcht singled to send the game-winning run home as the Buckeyes came away with the 15-5 run-rule victory in eight innings.
- On his first batter of the night, Gavin Kuzniewski earned his 100th career strikeout. His record improved to 5-2 on the mound as he earned the win. Kuzniewski fanned four and gave up three earned runs on five hits in 6.0 innings of work.
- Harvey led the Buckeyes with three hits. Kaczmar and Furcht each added two hits.
- Kaczmar had a team-high four RBIs and Furcht batted in three runs.
- The Buckeyes return to Bill Davis Stadium to continue their series against the Spartans. The teams will play at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 and at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 10.
